80 years of CREMER: Our history in pictures and milestones

In 1946, Peter Cremer laid the foundation for our company. What began with the trading of scarce goods such as grain, writing paper and steel sieves developed over the following decades into a globally connected group.

Since then, CREMER has continuously entered new markets, built new business areas and evolved further. This includes its early move into Asia, the establishment of its own production sites, expansion into North and South America, and entry into business fields such as oleochemicals, animal nutrition, and minerals & ores.

In 1992, CREMER entered the steel business and founded CREMER STEEL. Since then, international steel trading has become an important business area within the Group.

Discover eight decades of CREMER

To mark our 80th anniversary, we have redesigned the history section of our website. A timeline takes you from CREMER’s beginnings in Hanover through key stages of our international development to the present day – including, of course, milestones from the history of CREMER STEEL.

The page also looks at CREMER today: our world map shows how international the company has become and where our companies are active around the globe.

A story that continues

CREMER’s history is shaped by entrepreneurial courage, strong partnerships and personal relationships that have grown across generations and continents. Much has changed over the past 80 years. What has remained is our ambition to recognize opportunities, take responsibility and continuously explore new paths – an ambition that continues to drive CREMER STEEL today.
