Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Our world is facing significant challenges: climate change, resource scarcity, and social inequality are among the most pressing issues of our time. At the same time, there is a growing awareness – within society and across industries – of the need for sustainable action. As a globally active family-owned company, CREMER considers it a core part of our identity to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of global sustainability goals.
Following UN Sustainable Development Goals
At CREMER, our sustainability efforts are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established in 2015 to promote a more equitable and sustainable future by 2030. While we recognize that we cannot address all 17 goals equally, we focus on those areas where our business can have the most meaningful and measurable impact.
This includes the development and delivery of sustainable products and services, the protection of our employees’ health and safety, and the promotion of responsible and resilient supply chains. These priorities guide our actions today as we work to shape a better tomorrow – for our stakeholders, future generations, and the planet.
Supporting Your Sustainability Goals through Expertise and Sourcing Solutions
Drawing on extensive experience and deep industry knowledge, we provide strategic recommendations to help you achieve your sustainability objectives. Our expertise allows us to identify and secure alternative products that help meet these goals, such as CO₂-reduced steel.
We are well-equipped to source sustainable products globally, ensuring that you have access to the best options available. Our strong partnerships with steel mills allow us to offer tailored solutions that align with your sustainability targets. Through regular visits to production facilities, we stay informed about the latest manufacturing practices, ensuring we provide the most effective and sustainable options for your needs.
Navigating the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Together
Starting January 1, 2026, the European Union will implement the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), introducing a CO₂ import levy on certain goods entering the EU. 2026 will serve as a transitional year, during which companies must begin aligning their processes while full financial obligations gradually take effect.
At CREMER, we are closely following the development and implementation of CBAM. As a reliable partner, we are fully engaged with the topic and serve as a central point of contact for our customers and suppliers. We provide guidance, expertise, and practical support to help navigate the regulatory requirements and ensure smooth compliance.
Importers bear full responsibility for proper CBAM handling – including reporting, documentation, and payment of CO₂ charges. We assist our customers in managing these responsibilities effectively and are also here to support non-EU suppliers who wish to continue delivering goods into the European market.
